CAB Promotes Bicycle Education

Smart Cycling Complete class (formerly Traffic Skills 101)
Next class offered on May 18th from 1- 4:30 p.m.

This course is designed to give beginning as well as more experienced cyclists the training they need to ride safely and legally in traffic and on trails. The course covers bicycle safety checks, fixing a flat, on-bike skills, riding in traffic, and crash avoidance techniques. It also includes a free student manual. Recommended for adults aged sixteen and above, this course prepares cyclists for a full understanding of all aspects of cycling. This course is also required for those wishing to become instructors themselves. 

The class consists of two segments, a in-class session, and a session of safety skills on a parking lot followed by a slow group ride on city streets. Students will be graded and awarded a certificate on the basis of their on-bike performance as well as their knowledge from the classroom session.

 To take the course a person must have a bike helmet and a reliable, working bicycle that he or she already knows how to ride. Also, a cyclist must be at least 16 years old.
